Install and update

Barney Kube needs macOS 26 Tahoe or later.

Download

  1. Get the DMG from the Barney Kube page.
  2. Open it and drag Barney Kube to Applications.
  3. Open it from Applications.

The app is signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple. The download is about 9 MB.

First launch

A short tour, the suit-up, introduces the app while it pings the clusters in your kubeconfig, so you see which ones answer before you open anything. You can also switch on an AI command-line tool there (see Settings and shortcuts).

Watch it again from About › Replay the suit-up.

Updates

Barney Kube checks for new versions on its own and offers to install them. Each download's Developer ID signature is verified before it installs.

  • Barney Kube › Check for Updates… checks right away.
  • After an update, What's New shows what changed. Reopen it, and every past release, from About.

All releases are listed on the release notes page.

Uninstall

Quit Barney Kube and move it to the Trash. It does not change your kubeconfig, so nothing else needs cleaning up.

Barney Kube is free for personal and commercial use.
