The workspace

Open a cluster and the workspace shows its objects: the sidebar of kinds on the left, the list in the middle and, when you select something, the detail pane on the right.

The sidebar

GroupKinds
WorkloadsPods, Deployments, ReplicaSets, StatefulSets, DaemonSets, Jobs, CronJobs, HorizontalPodAutoscalers
NetworkServices, Ingresses, NetworkPolicies
ConfigConfigMaps, Secrets
StoragePersistentVolumeClaims, PersistentVolumes, StorageClasses
ClusterNodes, Namespaces, Events

Below them, Custom Resources lists every CustomResourceDefinition on the cluster (cert-manager, Argo CD, your own operators), browsed and watched like the built-in kinds.

Pods and Nodes get a badge as soon as something is unhealthy, even while you are looking at another kind.

Namespaces

Lists start across All namespaces. The namespace menu narrows them to one.

Live lists

Each list loads once, then a watch stream adds, updates and removes rows as the cluster changes. Nothing is polled.

  • Status at a glance: pods show Running 2/2, CrashLoopBackOff, Pending, color-coded; Deployments show ready counts; Nodes show Ready; Services their type.
  • Restarts on pods, dim at zero and orange once it is a real problem.
  • CPU and memory for pods and nodes, from metrics.k8s.io, refreshed every 15 seconds. Nodes get a bar against their capacity. This needs the cluster's metrics-server.
  • Sorting: click a header (name, status, CPU, memory, age) to sort, again to flip. Events start newest first, everything else A to Z.
  • Filter narrows the list by name.

Issues

Issues lists every unhealthy pod and every NotReady node across all namespaces, with the reason and where it is running. Click one to jump to it. When there is nothing to show, it says so: Every pod is running and every node is Ready.

Search Everything

⌘ K searches every kind in every namespace of the open cluster at once. With no cluster open, it brings up the picker with its filter ready.

The detail pane

Select a row to open the detail pane; deselect it and the pane closes, stopping any log stream or terminal it held. See Inspecting objects.

Every row also has an actions menu on hover with the same actions as the detail header: forward, scale, edit, restart, cordon, drain and delete, depending on the kind.
