Inspecting objects

Select an object to open its detail pane. The header shows its identity and status, plus the actions for its kind. The tabs:

TabShows
OverviewThe object itself, with syntax-highlighted JSON
EventsWhat Kubernetes reported about it: failed probes, image pulls, scheduling
LogsPods and workloads. See Logs
ExecPods. See Exec and files
RelatedThe objects it is connected to

Copy JSON and Copy Name are in the header.

Following the graph

Kubernetes records most links from one side only: a pod knows its node, but a node does not list its pods. Related walks both directions:

  • a Deployment's actual pods;
  • the node a pod runs on;
  • the Services in front of a pod;
  • the ConfigMaps and Secrets a pod mounts;
  • an Ingress's backends.

Every row is clickable, so you can walk from an Ingress to the Service, to its pods, to the node they run on.

Events

The Events tab shows the events for the selected object. For the whole cluster, open Events in the sidebar's Cluster group; it starts with the newest.

Secrets

Secret values are masked everywhere Barney shows them: the overview, copies and the editor. Reveal secret values shows them for that one object; Hide secret values masks them again. To edit a Secret's YAML you reveal it first, on purpose.

To change an object, see Editing YAML and applying.
